Irrigation Support – A Key enabler for Agriculture

Among the key enablers for the Agriculture program was Irrigation Support capacity.

The area is flanked by undulated plains facilitating high run off with less water storage capacity. The vast stretch of uplands remains uncultivated for poor sources of surface water. After a preliminary assessment of the area lift irrigation system was deemed suitable to cater to the needs of water for the villages.

11 concrete Tanks have been constructed. Water is pumped from the nearby stream and stored in these permanent concrete tanks. From these storage tanks water is used by the villagers for irrigation.

Similarly 10 ponds have been re-excavated in 10 villages, totaling to a storage capacity of 263 L liters. The re-excavated ponds in 10 villages benefit about 2000 villagers. Water is used for irrigation and regular household use.
