Biogas plant, commonly known as Biodigester, is a technology that converts biological wastes intomethane gas to be used as a source of clean fuel.
Shamayita math has installed over 1640 Biogas plants in Bankura II, Gangajalghati, Saltora and Chhatna Blockwith the help of West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency (WBREDA) - over the last 6 years. The year-wise # of Biogas plan installations are as below:

Also awareness programs on use of biogas for cooking are conducted at village level, especially withwomen groups with support from WBREDA.
Installation of such plants has minimized the health hazards due to smoke from conventional fuel such as wood & dungcakes
